Post  MrsN2Be on Thu Nov 05, 2009 4:05 pm

Hi - my name is Jane and I am getting married next summer! There is just so much to do and at times I find it really over whelming! Luckily I have some great friends and family to help me though.

Looking forward to chatting to you all!

Hi Jade

I know what u mean. There are some wedding fayres on by me at the moment and I keep getting told that it's wedding planning season so there should be loads of wedding fayres everywhere. I think the Mrs to be site has some dates so see if there are some near you but I am not sure what they mean by wedding planning season? Maybe they mean cos it's winter and weddings are mostly in the summer. Does anyone know???

confused

Hi Both

I am summer 2011 and I feel like I am behind with the planning already! I have a wedding planning journal and I even bought the step by step guide to planning your wedding! Have you two booked your venue yet? I am finding that venues give different prices depending on who you speak to so it makes me a bit suspicious as some of them don't publish their price lists.

It's all a bit confusing really and we are trying not to go overboard on the budget as we are paying for most of it ourselves!

We looked at a couple of hotel but didn't feel any connection to them in anyway - luckily my Aunt has a gorgeous house and a garden big enough for a marquee - so we are having our reception there instead!

Don't forget that there are ways to take advantage of the credit crunch, and the main way when it comes to weddings is to barter, barter, barter! Suppliers (including those with marquees!) are increasingly willing to reduce prices in order to secure bookings and if you choose wisely this won't mean a loss of quality.

On a seperate, yet related credit crunch note.... Remember that wedding insurance is a sure way to protect yourself in the current climate where suppliers can be known to let you down. Wedding insurance costs from around £30, we say cheap as chips for the peace of mind that it gives you!

Go on, get bartering, you will be pleased with the results!
